so, yes, i am still alive... here's proof. my fiance moved in with me a couple months ago. it's been uncertain and wonderful. she's been my best friend, my soulmate and my muse for years and i am very excited for what's coming in our lives. anyway, i saw this technique used by a very talented artist someone once told me i reminded them of. it's just ball point pen, with some fun fun crosshatching. sometimes, crosshatching is my only friend. there was some photo refferance involved, from a photo i took of my fiance.
I enjoy drawing with ball point pen sometimes as well, not so much anymore, but i used to alot. Cross hatching is fun also, i dont do much of that anymore either, but i sure remember it being fun. I like this drawing alot, it looks great, but ya know, my favorite part isnt the pen, or the cross hatching, its the compostion, and the slight tilt of her head. Great job.

You say tomato, i say........er, i say tomato also
nice technique ballpoint can be fun sometimes. lovely composition, particularly with the roses, the simple line as a frame, and the top of her head and the flowers overlapping that frame. i cant get over that crosshatching; she pops right out of the picture. well done
I totally agree. I like the overlapping of the elements with the frame too. I also like the large white area to the left. There's a nice "balance" to this work, for lack of a better term.
flawless work, the depth built up with the hatching is amazing. She really stands out.
the flowers on the side are a nice touch, as is the box frame. It finishes it up nicely.
love the pose as well.. how she's bending over forward, but her eyes make her look contemplative about it.
it turned out to be real pretty...
i always use this technique all day long when i'm supposed to do other stuff but can't really concentrate on. never tried to make a real picture, though...
really enjoy yours! if you hurry, you can get a ray on you...
Across the globe, 27 million men, women, and children live in some form of slavery. That is more people at this moment than in all the centuries of the Atlantic Slave Trade. Something must be done. This contest serves two purposes: Raising awareness about human trafficking and raising funds for the Not For Sale organization.
Open to all mediums. Deadline is March 10, 2010 @ 11:59pm PST.
